Grenada Bank Tree Boa
Corallus grenadensis
Barbour 1914

Grenadian tree boas are polymorphic tree boas that rival the color diversity of the Amazon tree boa. They are endowed with brilliant reds, oranges, yellows as well as browns and grays. Their size is similar to the Amazon tree boa but their ecology is quite different. Because of their restriction to the islands of Grenada and the islands of the Grenadian bank, they have a diet that is different from the mainland Amazon tree boa but similar to the Cook's tree boa which shares the island sitation with them.

Few Grenadian tree boas are found in captivity in the United States and they are infrequently imported. However, what is well-known is their natural history. Dr. Robert Henderson and associates have spend much time in Grenada doing foraging and habitat utilization studies on this species. We have learned much from them and will continue to learn more in the future from other studies.
